Nancy Faust is coming back to Sox Park!
Six dates starting May 11, tied in to the 125th Anniversary celebrations
At long last, legendary Chicago White Sox organist Nancy Faust makes her return to Sox Park. She will play on six Sundays, beginning this coming Sunday, May 11 and extending through August.
Faust’s contributions to the White Sox, baseball, and the world of sports and popular culture are prodigious. While she has a plaque at the ballpark commemorating her importance, we have long advocated for an even greater tribute. As early as 2018, in my very first months here running the site, we published Lurker Laura’s phenomenal piece advocating for a statue of Nancy at the park. Over the years, we’ve worked with Nancy on various projects and kept in close touch ... in fact, at Sports Illustrated (one of our many side projects over the years) Nancy briefly “joined” us to create personal histories of her time in the spotlight.
The fact that Nancy has been away from the park for 15 years and has never once returned to play — the White Sox, at odds with today’s announcement, have done little to nothing in the past even to promote her occasional organist stints at Camelback Ranch during Spring Training — is an organizational failure that at least is now corrected to some degree.
We hope that this news — appearing below in copyedited form straight from the White Sox release — propels the movement for further honors down the line. It is no exaggeration to suggest that Nancy Faust deserves a place in Cooperstown for her contributions to the game, in addition to further acknowledgement from her home team White Sox.
FAN-FAVORITE ORGANIST NANCY FAUST RETURNS TO BALLPARK FOR CHICAGO WHITE SOX 125th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Faust Scheduled to Perform on Select Coca-Cola Family Sundays at Rate Field
CHICAGO – Continuing the organization’s 125th anniversary season celebration, the Chicago White Sox proudly welcome famed ballpark organist Nancy Faust for a nostalgic series of special performances on select Coca-Cola Family Sundays throughout the 2025 season.
Faust, whose sound became synonymous with the White Sox baseball fan experience for more than four decades, will reprise her role in the ballpark’s organ booth on the following Sundays:
• May 11 vs. Miami
• May 25 vs. Texas, featuring a Charles Comiskey Bobblehead, presented by United (first 7,500 fans who enter the ballpark)
• June 8 vs. Kansas City, featuring a Ray Durham Bobblehead, presented by United (first 7,500 fans who enter the ballpark)
• June 29 vs. San Francisco, featuring a Luis Aparicio Bobblehead, presented by United (first 7,500 fans who enter the ballpark)
• July 13 vs. Cleveland, featuring a Buehrle, Garland, García & Contreras Bobblehead, presented by United (first 10,000 fans who enter the ballpark)
• August 10 vs. Cleveland, featuring an Ozzie Guillén Bobblehead, presented by United (first 7,500 fans who enter the ballpark)
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be returning to the ballpark and connecting with fans through music once again,” Faust says. “The energy of White Sox fans is unlike anything else, and I’m honored to be part of the 125th anniversary celebration.”
Widely recognized as a pioneer in her field, Faust redefined the role of ballpark musicians, bringing a game day soundtrack that features a now-iconic adaptation of Steam’s “Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye),” along with countless crowd-rousing riffs throughout classic White Sox eras from 1970-2010. Faust also revolutionized the in-game experience by introducing personalized musical themes for White Sox players — an innovation that predated the now-standard concept of walk-up music. In 1972, she debuted a customized rendition of “Jesus Christ Superstar” for Hall of Fame slugger Dick Allen, a moment widely credited as the origin of player-specific walk-up music in Major League Baseball.
Coca-Cola Family Sundays offer specially priced tickets and a postgame Kids Run the Bases promotion (weather permitting). The gameday experience features balloon artists, face painters, kid-friendly activities alongside White Sox mascot Southpaw and a Junior PA Announcer program, presented by Toyota. Alongside Faust’s music, the program provides select young fans an opportunity to announce their favorite Sox players as they step up to the plate.
