Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Columbus Clippers 2, St. Paul Saints 4 (F/7)

Box Score · Clippers fall to 13-13

The backslide of the Clippers continues as the offense managed just three hits on Tuesday in game one of a planned doubleheader.

Johnathan Rodriguez led the way, blasting his third home run of the season, a two-run shot that accounted for all of the team’s offense. No one walked either.

Starting pitcher Ryan Webb was effective, allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks in 5.0 solid innings of work. Bradley Hanner took the loss by allowing a pair of runs in the sixth inning.

Akron RubberDucks 2, Altoona Curve 10

Box Score · RubberDucks fall to 14-8

If only this game could have ended after the first at bat. Top prospect Travis Bazzana blasted a leadoff home run to get things going, but that was pretty much the extent of the RubberDucks offense.

Alex Mooney and Dayan Frias both reached base safely twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk.

Austin Peterson got off to a great start with a 1-2-3 first inning, but the game was delayed nearly two hours due to rain and he did not return.

Reliever Sean Rapp gave up five runs in his lone inning of work. Magnus Ellerts gave up three more in another inning and that was all she wrote for Akron.

Lake County Captains 13, Lansing Lugnuts 5

Box Score · Captains improve to 13-9

Every member of Lake County’s offense reached base safely and all but one did it at least twice on Tuesday as the Captains teed off in a wild game that saw the team score 12 runs in the final two innings.

Christian Knapczyk led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and a walk, raising his season OPS to an impressive .953 through the first month.

Jacob Cozart went 3-for-5 with a double while Maick Collado also went 3-for-5.

Jonah Advincula reached base safely four times, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two walks. Jaison Chourio singled and walked, Alfonsin Rosario went 2-for-5, as did Jose Devers, who also doubled.

Starting pitcher Dylan DeLucia danced around five walks to pitch 4.0 shutout one-hit innings with three strikeouts.

Lynchburg Hillcats 6, Charleston RiverDogs 5

Box Score · Hillcats improve to 13-9

Lynchburg jumped all over Charleston with three runs in the first inning, then held on for a thrilling victory.

Leading the way offensively was Jeffrey Mercedes, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk and three runs battedin.

Bennett Thompson continues to absolutely rake, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Thompson has a 1.024 OPS through the first month of the season.

Center fielder Jose Pirela also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double while Yaikel Mijares walked three times.

Starting pitcher Jogly Garcia struggled to get through the third inning, but still struck out seven batters in 2.2 frames.

Xavier Martinez pitched a scoreless inning of relief and Donovan Zsak added two scoreless frames before Logan McGuire earned his second save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts.
