Mets Minors Recap: Raimon Gomez Throws 104.5 MPH Pitch, Fastest Of Season
Jonathan Pintaro was phenomenal on Friday but the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A) couldn’t push across a run and St. Lucie (Single-A) had a strong effort led by Trace Wilhoite in their 4-2 victory. Additionally, in that same contest, Raimon Gomez threw a pitch at 104.5 mph, the fastest in any league this season.

Double-A
Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-8) 0, New Hampshire Fisher Cats (8-10) 1
- SS Jett Williams – 2-for-4, 1 K (.877 OPS)
- RF Nick Morabito – 0-for-4 (.663 OPS)
- 1B Ryan Clifford – 0-for-3, 1 BB, 2 K (.786 OPS)
- CF Alex Ramírez – 2-for-4 (.503 OPS)
- DH Kevin Parada – 0-for-4, 2 K (.439 OPS)
- 3B Wyatt Young – 1-for-4, 3B, 2 K (.801 OPS)
The Rumble Ponies managed eight hits on the day and 10 total baserunners, but couldn’t scratch a run across the board in this hard fought game.
Wyatt Young had the only extra-base hit on the day, a triple in the bottom of the fifth inning with one out. Omar De Los Santos and Jett Williams proceeded to both strike out to end the only real threat the Rumble Ponies had on the day. Jett Williams has been impressive in his 2025 debut, pushing his batting average to .300 after Friday’s game. He did have a throwing error on the day at shortstop, but its only a matter of time before the organization gives him more time in center field.
Alex Ramirez had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-4 but still is hitting below .200 with a .503 OPS on the season. He may be looking more the part of organizational filler at this point and if a better prospect was in Double-A Binghamton, ceding playing time to them.
- RHP Jonathan Pintaro (2.93 ERA) 5 2/3 IP, 2 H, 9 K (52 of 66 pitches for strikes)
Jonathan Pintaro was phenomenal on the day, striking out nine batters over 5 2/3 innings while only allowing two hits. He managed all of this while throwing an absurd 52 of his 66 pitches for strikes. Pintaro has looked the part of someone who could actually factor in to the 2026 plans for the New York Mets.
Cameron foster allowed the only run on the day in the eighth inning after he walked a batter and Yohendrick Pinango hit an RBI double.
High-A
Brooklyn Cyclones (13-6) 2, Jersey Shore BlueClaws (6-13); postponed
The Brooklyn Cyclones and Jersey Shore BlueClaws game was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the Cyclones return to Lakewood in May. The Cyclones will play again on Sunday at 1:05 pm ET.

Low-A
St. Lucie Mets (12-8) 4, Daytona Tortugas (9-11) 2
-
1B Trace Wilhoite – 1-for-3, R, HR (3), 3 RBI (16), 1 K (.843 OPS)
- SS Colin Houck – 0-for-4, 1 K (.702 OPS)
- 3B Trey Snyder – 0-for-3, BB, SB (6), 2 K (.505 OPS)
- 2B Marco Vargas – 0-for-3, BB, CS (1) (1.031 OPS)
- DH Daiverson Gutierrez – 0-for-3, BB (.585 OPS)
St. Lucie struck early, putting four runs across in the second inning, three of which came on Trace Wilhoite’s third home run of the season. Wilhoite, who was signed by the Mets as an undrafted free agent, has been quite the surprise, but he is playing Low-A at 24 years old so the real test would be can he keep up the power in Brooklyn.
AJ Ewing had the day off and Trey Snyder stole his sixth base of the season, but is running a .505 OPS. Mets catching prospect Daiverson Gutierrez has struggled in his first extended exposure to full season ball, with no extra-base hits in 48 at-bats, but a surprisingly good 10/11 BB/K ratio.
- RHP Raimon Gomez (0.00 ERA) 3 IP, 1 BB, 4 K (25 of 38 pitches for strikes)
- RHP Frank Elissalt (0.96 ERA) 1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K
Despite the St. Lucie win, the story of the day was Raimon Gomez throwing a pitch 104.5 mph, which is the fastest pitch in any league this season. Gomez averaged 103 mph on 11 fastballs in the first inning. In other Gomez news, he was untouchable in his three innings of work, walking one batter and striking out four. Raimon Gomez throwing a pitch 104.5 MPH.
The bullpen held, with stellar outings from Frank Elissalt, Josh Blum, and Hoss Brewer. Brewer has only allowed one earned run on the season while striking out 12 and allowing five hits in nine and two-third innings.
