Charlie Morton Didn’t Start, Still Didn’t Win

0 0

In game two of the Saturday doubleheader the Baltimore Orioles opted to start Keegan Akin. Akin walked 1 and struck out 1 over 1.2 innings of work. Charlie Morton (0-6) was then called upon to pitch after Akin threw 31 pitches (19 strikes). The song remained the same as Morton took the loss in a 6-2 win by the Detroit Tigers.

Morton allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts over 3.2 innings; the big blow was a Riley Greene three-run homerun in the third inning. His ERA now sits at 10.36.

The Orioles kept the game close (3-2) until the Tigers scored three runs in the seventh. Seranthony Dominguez allowed those runs and finished with a line of 1.1 IP, 3 R, BB, K, WP.

The Orioles bats were relatively quiet, managing just 6 hits against Detroit pitching.

Gunnar Henderson went 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI.

Ramon Laureano went 0 for 1 with 1 RBI.

Adley Rutschman went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and a walk.

Jackson Holliday went 1 for 2 with a run scored, a walk and was hit by a pitch.
