Mariners Game #25 Preview: 4/24/2025: SEA at BOS
Time to knit up a series win
After yesterday’s big 8-5 win over the Boston Red Sox that tied the series and secured a winning road trip, the Mariners are taking the field looking for their first series win in Fenway park since 2014. If they win today, they will have started every series this roadtrip by dropping game one and then winning the next two. Disappoint me and then bring me back in? That’s Mariners baseball, baby.
Lineups:
The Mariners will be relying on 25-year-old pitcher Bryan Woo to help secure the win today. Woo has been standout so far in 2025. He’s made 4 starts this year and is averaging over 6 IP and 5.5 strikeouts per game. And he’ll need to bring his A-game today, facing off against one of the more aggressive teams in the league.
On the hitting side of things, it’s another rest day for Jorge Polanco with a lefty on the mound. Mariners manager Dan Wilson is platooning Polanco pretty piously, giving the “third baseman” only 6 at-bats against lefties this year.
In addition, it’ll be Mitch Garver behind the plate today as Cal DH’s. Mitch has caught Bryan Woo pretty often — so this isn’t surprising — and it takes a little bit of pressure off call.
Last one of the homestand!

It looks to be a pitcher’s duel as the Red Sox are sending left hander Garrett Crochet to the mound. You may remember Crochet from one of two games last year when he pitched for the other colored sock team. The first time he faced the M’s he went 7 IP and only allowed 2 hits, carving through the lineup. But the second time, pitching at home, he was lit up to the tune of 5 runs (3 earned) in 3 innings. Hopefully today is more like that second game.
