Finally, Two In A Row
For the first time in 2025 the Baltimore Orioles have won two games in a row. The Birds defeated the Cleveland Guardians 6-2 on Thursday night in front of 16,201 fans at Camden Yards.
The Orioles struck first on a Gunnar Henderson (2 for 4, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI) homerun in the first inning. A pair of Guardian’s homeruns in the third inning gave Cleveland a brief 2-1 lead. A three-run homerun by Ryan O’Hearn (2 for 3, HR, R, 3 RBI) in the bottom of the frame put the Orioles up 4-2 and they never looked back.
Heston Kjerstad (1 for 2, HR, R, 2 RBI, BB) finished out the Orioles’ scoring with a sixth inning two-run homerun.
Jackson Holliday (1 for 3) and Ramon Urias (1 for 2, BB) each singled in the contest.
Despite surrendering two homeruns, starter Tomoyuki Sugano (2-1) gave the team a solid 7.0 inning effort; he is the first pitcher to go that far in a game this season. He earned the win for his 2 run, 5 hit, 3 strikeout performance in which he threw 87 pitches, 55 for strikes.
Keegan Akin (0.2 IP, H, K) and Seranthony Dominguez (0.1 IP, K) combined to pitch the eighth inning and Felix Bautista allowed a hit, walked 1 and struck out 2 in the ninth inning.
