Morning Briefing: Francisco Lindor Named Team Puerto Rico Captain
Good morning, Mets fans!
On Wednesday, Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor was named captain for Team Puerto Rico in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Aaron Judge was named captain of Team America a couple of days ago, and now another New York star will be leading his country. Lindor played for Team Puerto Rico in the 2017 and 2023 WBCs.

The Mets dropped their second series of the year Wednesday, falling in extra innings to the Minnesota Twins. Despite tying the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning, the Mets were unable to score a run in the 10th inning.
New York starts a seven-game homestand against the Cardinals and Phillies this weekend. Griffin Canning gets the start on Thursday against Andre Pallante of St. Louis.
