OU run-rules OSU in Bedlam baseball matchup

0 4

STILLWATER (KFOR) -- Bedlam baseball went the way of the Sooners virtually from the first pitch. No. 18 OU batted around in the top of the first, scoring five runs in the process to take a commanding lead.

OSU was never able to muster up any offense outside of a solo homerun by senior slugger Collin Bruggemann in the bottom of the fourth. The shot by Bruggemann cut the Sooner lead down to 6-1, and that remained the score until the eighth.

OU's offense had one last punch in them. Jaxon Willits singled in a run, and Jason Walk hit a grand slam to push the Sooner lead up to 11-1.

Facing a possible run-rule situation, OU opted to bring in closer Dylan Crooks to face the heart of the Cowboy order. Crooks shut down OSU to give OU an 11-1 win in eight innings over their Bedlam rivals.

OSU is still searching for answers amidst an injury-plagued season with the Cowboys dropping to 16-18 on the season after losing four of its last five games.

OU seems to have regained some momentum, the Sooners had lost four-straight before taking two of three from Vanderbilt over the weekend, and now Skip Johnson's team picks up a good win on the road.

The Sooners head out on the road to take on Missouri, while the Cowboys stay in Stillwater for a series against Houston
