Where Mets’ Top 30 Prospects Will Start 2025 Season
With all four of the Mets’ full-season affiliates playing on Friday for the first time in 2025, let’s look at MMO’s top 30 prospects and where they’ll begin their seasons. At the end of March, MMO’s Mike Mayer provided a final overall breakdown of the top 30.

1. Brandon Sproat – RHP — 2024 ERA: 3.40 (A+/AA/AAA) 2025 Start: Syracuse Mets (Triple-A)
The 24-year-old climbed the ranks quickly in 2024, earning two call-ups before reaching Triple-A. His fastball can hit triple digits but lacks movement, so he’ll remain in Syracuse until he fully refines his arsenal. He has the best upside—and is the best overall arm—in the Mets system by far.
2. Jett Williams – SS/2B/CF — 2024 WRC+: 97 (A/AA/AAA) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
Williams faced his first setback in his professional career in 2024, hitting just .215/.358/.298 last year after a standout 2023 in High-A. However, he showed some promise with a few solid games late in his 2024 Triple-A stint, bringing his season closer to league average. He’ll start 2025 in Double-A Binghamton hoping for a quick stop, then back to Syracuse.
3. Carson Benge – CF — 2024 WRC+: 152 (A) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
Benge, 22, was the Mets’ first-round pick in 2024 out of Oklahoma State. A two-way player in college, he will focus solely on hitting in the pros. In limited action with St. Lucie, he posted a .273/.420/.436 slash line. He’ll now report to Brooklyn, where it will be interesting to see how he adjusts. Maimonides Park is notoriously tough on left-handed power hitters.
4. Jonah Tong – RHP — 2024 ERA: 3.03 (A/A+/AA) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
Tong spent most of last season in High-A before earning a late-season promotion to Binghamton, where he’ll start this year. He was excellent in 2024, posting a 3.03 ERA over 118 innings. His fastball has a ton of vertical break, and his changeup is a great swing-and-miss pitch.
5. Jesus Báez – SS/3B/2B — 2024 WRC+: 122 (A/A+) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
Báez is still very young and hasn’t gotten any time in the upper echelons of the minors yet. However, he has impressed in his time with St. Lucie and Brooklyn. Unfortunately, he tore his meniscus last summer, right after being promoted to High-A. He’ll begin 2025 back in St. Lucie as he works his way back.
6. Nolan McLean – RHP — 2024 ERA: 3.78 (A+/AA) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
After Sproat, McLean is probably the next-closest arm to the majors. His slider is already major league caliber, even if he were called up today. Though he’s starting in Binghamton, he could reach the majors by 2026—or even as a September call-up.
7. Elian Peña – SS — 2024 WRC+: N/A 2025 Start: DSL Mets
Peña is definitely one to watch—he didn’t get a $5 million bonus for nothing. But at just 17, he’s still a long way from reaching Queens. He’ll develop in the Dominican Summer League, and while it’s too early to say exactly what he’ll become, the hope is that he grows into more power. For now, he already shows impressive plate discipline and strong bat speed.
8. Ryan Clifford – 1B/COF — 2024 WRC+: 131 (A+/AA) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
Clifford benefited significantly from a call-up out of Brooklyn, so it’s unlikely he’ll ever see Maimonides Park again. He spent 98 games with Binghamton last year, hitting 18 homers.
9. Drew Gilbert – OF — 2024 WRC+: 82 (A/AAA) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (rehab)
Injuries limited Gilbert to 23 games last year, and he looked super fatigued when he did play. He also needs to improve against breaking balls. Gilbert was brilliant in 2023, meaning that he’ll continue to get chances. He’ll start the season in a rehab assignment with the St. Lucie Mets.
10. Luisangel Acuña – 2B/SS/CF — 2024 WRC+: 69 MiLB/166 MLB 2025 Start: New York Mets (MLB)
Acuña has begun the year in the majors but whether he stays there remains to be seen. Once Jeff McNeil returns, he’ll be competing with Brett Baty for a roster spot.
11. Ronny Mauricio – SS/3B/2B — 2024 WRC+: N/A (Injured) 2025 Start: New York Mets (MLB, 10-Day IL)
Mauricio has always been electric for his raw power. However, he suffered an ACL injury in winter ball and hasn’t seen action since 2023. If the Mets need him, he could serve as a bench option once he returns,.
12. Jeremy Rodriguez – SS/2B/3B — 2024 WRC+: 108 (ROK) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
Rodriguez has a high floor, but also some upside thanks to his excellent bat-to-ball skills. He’ll get his first reps in pro ball this year, with hopes of adding more power to his game.

13. Boston Baro – SS/3B/2B — 2024 WRC+: 117 (A/A+) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
At 6’0″ and 170 pounds, the 20-year-old Baro has arguably the best plate discipline in the Mets system. His strong arm makes him a likely fit at the hot corner, and he’ll be part of a star-studded Cyclone infield.
14. Jonathan Santucci – LHP — 2024 ERA: 3.41 (NCAA) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
Santucci is a polished college arm with a blazing fastball and a knack for inducing strikeouts. Skipping Single-A entirely, he’ll look to refine his command in Coney Island.
15. Blade Tidwell – RHP — 2024 ERA: 5.16 (AA/AAA) 2025 Start: Syracuse Mets (Triple-A)
Like others, Tidwell struggled in Syracuse, particularly with his control. His fastball can reach 99 mph, but command issues could keep him from making the majors as a starter. He primarily relies on a sweeper, slider, and cutter. His curveball is more of a get-me-over pitch, while his changeup features heavy pronation. Tidwell will be a fine reliever if he can’t iron out his control problems.
16. Trey Snyder – SS/3B — 2024 WRC+: 58 (A) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
Snyder graduated high school last year as Missouri’s top shortstop. He has excellent bat speed but profiles more as a doubles hitter than a home run threat. In limited Single-A action, he hit .182 over 26 plate appearances without an extra-base hit.
17. Marco Vargas – SS/2B/3B — 2024 WRC+: 94 (A) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
The young infielder had a disappointing season in Single-A last year, so he’ll return there this year with the goal of moving up a level. At 19, he’s still significantly younger than most of his peers.
18. Nate Dohm – RHP — 2024 ERA: 1.23 (NCAA) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
Dohm doesn’t throw extremely hard—he averages around 93-95 mph—but he compensates with exceptional control. If he can stay healthy, he could start gaining more attention. His impressive 1.23 ERA in the SEC last year shows some of the potential he possesses. The right-hander will start the year in St. Lucie.
19. Eli Serrano III – OF — 2024 WRC+: 122 (A) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
Serrano, a 2024 fourth-round pick as a college sophomore, is a well-rounded player. While he doesn’t excel in any one area, he’s also not weak in any. According to MLB Pipeline, “his upper-level exit velocities were above-average for the Florida State League…a sign that the Mets may have found something to work with.”
20. Nick Morabito – OF — 2024 WRC+: 135 (A/A+) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
Morabito hit .312/.403/.398 between St. Lucie and Brooklyn, earning him a spot in Binghamton to start 2025. He’s incredibly fast, stealing 59 bases last year. While he doesn’t have much power, he makes good swing decisions and consistently makes contact.
21. Christopher Suero – C/1B/LF — 2024 WRC+: 116 (A/A+) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
Suero is the type of player who excels at getting on base, and last year, his OBP was a clear strength. Despite a .236 batting average, he posted a solid .361 OBP. He also stole 20 bases and was sound in the field. His approach is pull-heavy, which results in a lot of elevated hits.

22. Jonathan Pintaro – RHP — 2024 ERA: 2.68 (A+/AA/AAA) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
The Mets signed Pintaro out of the Pioneer League last year, and he was solid across three levels, posting a 2.68 ERA over 74 innings. He walked over three per nine but also struck out 9.12 per nine. At 27, the clock is ticking, but he’s refined enough to be a strong high-level pitcher. Additionally, as a DII school alumnus, it would be an inspiring story if he makes it to the majors.
23. Daiverson Gutierrez – C — 2024 WRC+: 131 (ROK/A) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
Gutierrez had a major bounce-back season in 2024, which was much needed after a rough 2023. He posted a .259/.396/.435 line with an impressive 13.4 K%. While he struggled in Single-A (.111 batting average in 27 at-bats), his strong performance in the DSL is enough to earn him starts in Single-A this year.
24. Yovanny Rodriguez – C — 2024 WRC+: 101 (DSL) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A, 60-Day IL)
The Mets gave Rodriguez a $2.85 million signing bonus in 2024, and he was solid for the Mets’ DSL Orange team. He posted a 101 WRC+, capped off by a .341/.400/.568 line in August. He’ll start in Single-A, though his opportunities may be limited with Gutierrez ahead of him in the pecking order.
25. Jacob Reimer – 3B/1B/LF — 2024 WRC+: 98 (ROK/A/A+) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
Reimer is still pretty raw, and his in-game power hasn’t fully developed. After being drafted in the fourth round in 2022, he impressed with a strong rookie ball season and followed up with a solid 2023 across multiple levels. However, his production dipped in 2024, as his OPS fell from .892 in 2022 to .774 in 2023 and then .640 last year. He’ll need to adjust to High-A pitching before the Mets can consider moving him up.
26. Ronald Hernandez – C/1B — 2024 WRC+: 107 (A/A+) 2025 Start: Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A)
The switch-hitting Hernandez begins the year in High-A after a solid 2024 campaign, where he hit .266/.355/.346 with an 11.7% walk rate. He profiles as a potential backup catcher with decent bat-to-ball skills and good plate discipline.
27. Edward Lantigua – OF — 2024 WRC+: 122 (DSL) 2025 Start: Not Announced
Lantigua, just 18 years old, posted a strong 122 WRC+ in 2024 for the DSL Mets. He can play all three outfield positions but he profiles better at the corners.
28. A.J. Ewing – 2B/OF — 2024 WRC+: 116 (ROK/A) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
The 20-year-old Ewing outgrew rookie league last year and looked good at the plate in Single-A. His disciplined approach led to a 16.5% walk rate, but his 28.5% strikeout rate—due to struggles with breaking balls—will keep him in St. Lucie despite 90 decent games there in 2024.
29. Jack Wenninger – RHP — 2024 ERA: 4.30 (A/A+) 2025 Start: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A)
Wenninger, 23, was drafted in the sixth round in 2023 and has been effective so far in his pro career. Despite a rough ERA in Single-A to start 2024, his 3.97 FIP earned him a call-up to Brooklyn, where he posted a strong 3.12 ERA in 43 1/3 innings. Primarily a fastball-splitter pitcher, he’ll likely need to expand his arsenal to succeed at higher levels like Binghamton.
30. Will Watson – RHP — 2024 ERA: 3.38 (A/A+) 2025 Start: St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
Watson was dominant in college, and the hope is that his success will translate to the pros. He’ll start in St. Lucie, with the goal of developing into a major league rotation piece in the coming years. If he can refine his command, his stuff should play at higher levels.
