Lesotho hosts inaugural masters men's softball tournament in Maseru

The Lesotho Baseball and Softball Association (LBSA) hosted this past weekend the inaugural men's softball Lesotho Masters Tournament with three participating teams, with the goal of expanding men's softball in Southern Africa and encouraging sport participation among older athletes. The event was held at Mabote Police Grounds in Maseru, Lesotho.

Three teams - one from Lesotho and two from South Africa - competed in the inaugural tournament, which took place on 29 and 30 March. The Kings hosted the Flames and the Villiers from South Africa in the five-game competition.

After the Opening Round, the Flames secured a direct spot in the final after winning both their games: 12-5 against the Kings and 15-13 over the Villiers. The Kings and the Villiers clashed in the semifinal on Sunday, with the Kings dominating 12-4 to reach the final, which saw the home team shut out the Flames 7-0 to claim the title.

Lesotho, currently ranked No. 43 in the WBSC Men's Softball World Ranking after finishing in third place at the African Championship 2024, keeps expanding its international experience with initiatives like this tournament.
