Wrapping Up Mets’ Top 30 Prospects for 2025
With the minor league season starting on Friday and getting in full swing on April 4, we’ve wrapped up our Mets Top 30 prospect preseason countdown for 2025. The Mets’ farm system has improved in recent years in terms of talent and in developing talent, in part thanks to Steve Cohen’s commitment to spending money, whether it’s paying money down in trades to get better prospects back or paying to get the pitching lab set up and hiring folks like Eric Jagers to help run it.

- Prospects That Missed Top 30
How They Were Acquired
Unsurprisingly, the most common way the Mets acquired a player in our top 30 prospect list came through the draft. The Mets drafted 16 of the 30 players listed above, followed by seven from international free agency and six from trades. That brings us up to 29 players and leaves us with the incredibly unique story of right-hander Jonathan Pintaro. The 27-year-old started last season pitching for the Glacier Range Riders in Montana, of all places, and he finished the season pitching in the Arizona Fall League against some of the best prospects in baseball. The Mets signed Pintaro to a minor league deal in June.
Positional Breakdown
As you will see, the Mets clearly value players getting experience at multiple positions, so I tried to be as specific as possible in the breakdowns.
- Right-handed Pitchers: 8
- Left-handed Pitchers: 1
- Infield Only: 7 (6 of these have experience at SS/2B/3B)
- Outfield Only: 5
- Corner Infielder & Outfield: 2
- Middle Infielder & Outfield: 3
- Catcher: 2
- Catcher & First Base: 1
- Catcher/First Base/Left Field: 1
The Triple-A Syracuse Mets announced their Opening Day roster on Thursday, with Brandon Sproat as the highlight. All four of the Mets’ full season affiliates will be in action for the first time in 2025 on April 4.
