Morning Briefing: Mets Undecided on Roster Spots for Kranick, Brazobán

Carlos Mendoza told reporters after Monday’s game that the team still hasn’t decided if Max Kranick and Huascar Brazobán will begin the year on the major league roster. Kranick finished off his spectacular spring training with a scoreless inning on Monday, concluding Grapefruit League play with a 1.46 ERA and 15 strikeouts against one walk in 12 1/3 innings. Brazobán also tossed a scoreless inning to finish the spring with a 1.69 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings. The team has already decided to option Dedniel Núñez to begin the season.

Brett Baty, Pete Alonso, and Brandon Nimmo all went deep as the Mets concluded their Grapefruit League schedule with a 6-6 tie against the Yankees. Baty concludes the spring with four homers and a 1.186 OPS in 59 plate appearances. The announced attendance of 8,808 marks the second-largest crowd for a Mets spring training game. The team’s spring training attendance of 106,027 is a new franchise record and half of the home games were sellouts. The Mets now head to Houston to ready themselves for their season-opening series against the Astros.

Beginning today at 11 AM, fans will be able to purchase special edition Juan Soto bats at Mets House. Only 22 bats are available and cost $400 each. Customers are limited to two bats per purchase.
