The last Cactus League game of the season.
The Cleveland Guardians ended their Spring Training the way it started, with a loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
- The Guardians offense was, in a word, lacking in the last Cactus League game of the season. Of the 14 Cleveland batters that played today, less than half even reached base.
- The first run came in the top of the third when Ralphy Velazquez hit a 392ft solo home run. The second run came in the top of the ninth. Dom Nuñez drew a walk, Justin Boyd doubled, and Cooper Ingle hit a sac fly to bring Nuñez home.
- Cincinnati’s score was a mixed result of pitching and defensive miscues. In the bottom of the first, Ralphy Velazquez misread a double from Elly De La Cruz which allowed TJ Fridel to score. Vince Velasquez threw a wild pitch that allowed Elly to score easily.
- Third baseman Dayan Frias allowed a runner to reach with a throwing error and his substitute Jeffrey Mercedes committed a fielding error in the bottom of the sixth to allow a runner to score. Mercedes committed a second fielding error in the bottom of the seventh to score Will Banfield.
- Cleveland pitchers allowed eleven hits and seven walks while collectively only striking out five.
- Kolby Allard had the worst day of the pitching staff, allowing 8H, 7ER, 1BB and striking out 2 in 2.1IP.
- Starter Vince Velasquez went 2.0IP. Velasquez gave up 2ER, 1H, 1BB, and struck out 1.
- Andrew Walters had a good day, striking out one and walking one with no hits or runs allowed in his inning of work.
Final Score: CLE 2 - CIN 13
