Royals split the split-squad game, beat Mariners and lose
Cole Ragans got shelled by the A’s.
Well…. Let’s hope that does not happen to Cole Ragans during the season, shall we?
In the Athletics game, Ragans got shelled for 8 runs in 4 2⁄3 innings of work. Former Royal Brent Rooker socked a dinger, and so did Shea Langeliers. The Royals mustered enough offense to score one run, but the game was pretty out of hand quickly. Final score 10-1, Athletics.
In the other squad game, the Royals really tried to blow it in the ninth inning. Daniel Lynch gave up 4 runs before getting pulled, which brought the Mariners within one run. They managed to shut it down and win the game 8-7.
Lorenzen gave up three runs in five innings of work. The Royals scattered 17 hits for those 8 runs, including a Salvador Perez dinger.
The Royals will play the Rangers tomorrow at 2:05pm US Central. I think the game is broadcast on MLB.tv. Seth Lugo gets the start.
