Senga, Peterson to Make 2025 Debuts Against Marlins
The 2025 opening rotation for the New York Mets is starting to take shape. According to Tim Healey of Newsday, Kodai Senga and David Peterson will not make the trip to Houston opening weekend and will instead pitch against the Marlins in the second series of the regular season.

Both Peterson and Senga will stay behind in Port St. Lucie to pitch in minor-league games on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. That puts them on track to make their first starts of the regular season on March 31st and April 1st in Miami.
The team has already announced that Clay Holmes will start Opening Day a week from today. That means that games two and three of the season will be started by two of the triumvirate of Griffin Canning, Tylor Megill and Paul Blackburn. This will set the Mets up to throw three right-handed starters against the righty-heavy Astros lineup.
Assuming the rotation holds true, and the Mets maintain a five-man rotation with the bult in off-days during the beginning of the season, the starter of game 2 will start the home opener against the Blue Jays on April 4th.
