Well, well, well. Look who decided to make themselves a more well-rounded and informed baseball fan today. Come hither, my friends, and let us soothsay together.
2025 FanGraphs Depth Charts projections: 84.5-77.5, tied (with the Mariners) for 1st in AL West, 56.4% playoff odds
2025 PECOTA projections: 90.4-71.6, 1st in AL West, 82.4% playoff odds
Y’all like tables, right? Here, have another table.
Oh, what’s that? You don’t want to scroll some stinkin’ table? You want someone to spoon feed you the information with words in paragraph form? The crux of it is this: The Rangers are projected to narrowly edge out the Mariners positionally by WAR. Only the catcher, first base (??), center field and starting pitching positions are slated to land in the Mariners favor. Personally, I think that’s wrong in a lot of ways, including but not limited to favoring the Rangers bullpen, which features some people for sure. Projections are chaos, whatever.
If It All Goes Right
It’s 2023. Everyone stays healthy, Kumar Rocker is for real, Jack Leiter doesn’t embarrass his illustrious family name, the offense wallops their way back into the World Series. Just for fun, because it’s just me in this empty cave: If you think the Rangers will win the World Series this year, leave a comment below. When the trophy is awarded, I’ll check back in and Venmo each of you $1.
If it All Goes Wrong
It’s 2024. Everyone is hurt, including Kumar Rocker. The Leiter clan has disowned Jack, Marcus Semien was out for 100 games, Cory Seager got a splinter in his hand while knocking on wood, it became infected and when he was hospitalized for the infection he contracted sepsis. Just for fun, because it’s just me in this empty cave: If you think the Rangers will finish below third in the division, leave a comment below. When the season wraps, I’ll check back in and Venmo each of you $1.
The End
Thank you for joining me in this fever dream. Go Rangers?
