Hong Kong, China hosts inaugural International Youth Baseball Classic
The Baseball Association of Hong Kong, China (BAHKC) hosted the maiden edition of the Hong Kong International Youth Baseball Classic (HKYBC) from 14 to 16 March. The 13 participating teams came from the Greater Bay Area and Indonesia.
The Hong Kong Bluetails won the eight-team U-13 tournament. The Shenzhen Bluesox finished second and the Hong Kong Falcons placed third.
Guangzhou won the five-team U-16 tournament. The Dongguan Dragons finished second and the Hong Kong Bravos placed third.
The Arts and Sports Development Fund of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department funded the event.
BAHKC stated that the initiative intends to "foster exchanges among teams, build friendships through baseball, and encourage collaboration across all sectors of society to establish a culture that loves sports."
"The Hong Kong International Youth Baseball Classic embodies our unwavering commitment to supporting the growth of baseball, nurturing young athletes, and creating a competitive and inclusive environment," commented Stanley Chong, the BAHKC Chairman. "This inaugural event is a testament to our collective vision of inspiring the next generation of baseball players and fans."
