Jonathan India and Jac Caglianone went yard in win

After getting swept in their first split squad games of Spring Training, the Royals muscled their way to a 5-2 victory over Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon.

Jonathan India led off the bottom of the first for the Royals with a solo shot. The 355-foot dinger was the first in Kansas City for India.

After the Brewers tied the game in the top of the third on a sacrifice bunt, Royals first baseman Jac Caglianone sent a ball way up the right field hill for his third home run of the spring to put the Royals back on top 2-1. The ball traveled 444 feet with a 114.6 mph exit velocity.

After the Brewers got to Carlos Hernandez in his two innings of work (more on him later), to tie the game at 2, MJ Melendez would get the Royals going again with his second triple of Spring Training. The new batting stance looks to be paying some dividends for MJ, which is nice to see. Maikel Garcia, who started in center field today would drive him in with a single.

Back-to-back triples from Peyton Wilson and Daniel Vazquez in the 8th would put the Royals up 4-2. Vazquez would score on a fielding error during the next at bat.

On the pitching side of things today, Noah Cameron got the start and went 3 innings and gave up 2 hits and an unearned run while striking out 2. Carlos Hernandez would relieve him and go two innings, but Hernandez once again struggled. He would walk two batters and give up two hits as well while allowing one run. Austin Cox, Angel Zerpa, Junior Fernández and Eric Cerantola would combine to not allow a hit the last 4 innings of the game, while striking out a combined three batters.

The Royals improve to 10-6-1 in Spring Training and will play a divisional foe, the Cleveland Guardians on Monday at 3:05 p.m. central time. Kris Bubic is projected to start the game.
