A’s win double header, beat Rockies and D-Backs
What a bounce back
The A’s finally got back in the win column. During a double-header split the A’s won both contests, first beating the Rockies 8-1 before coming out on top of the Diamondbacks 4-2. A close one and a demolition.
First with the Rockies, the A’s got on board with a massive six-run second inning with key hits from Miguel Andujar and Gio Urshela. Both are expected to be regulars for the team, even if just average performers.
Colorado scored in the fifth inning against lefty Hogan Harris but didn’t manage anything else against the A’s. Quite the day from a pitching staff after allowing 22 runs the previous two days.
Meanwhile against Arizona, the other half of the A’s managed to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 in what amounted to the team’s ninth win. With left-hander JP Sears on the mound the team won their second game of the day. Sears looked good in his third start of the season as he prepares for his third full season as a starter in the major leagues.
We love a double header! Especially when we get double the wins. We get another dose of double baseball tomorrow as the team will split up again. One squad will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers as the other half of the team takes on the Diamondbacks for the second time in two days. Righty Mitch Spence is scheduled to start the game against the loaded Dodgers while Arizona will be going up against A’s righty Joey Estes. A big start from both would do wonders for their chances of starting the year in the rotation. Should be another good pair of games on what looks like a sunny Sunday!
