T-minus 2 days ahead of OSU baseball's home opener: What to know
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- It's t-minus two days from the much-anticipated home opener for Oregon State baseball, with the first game airing on KOIN 6 and other digital and streaming platforms.
There's a lot of hype for this Beavers squad, which ranks eighth nationally ahead of its first homestand of the season.
Beavers will welcome the San Diego Toreros for a three-game set at Goss. After going 3-3 in their Texas baseball tournaments, the team is looking to find more success in front of that Beaver Nation crowd as they begin their independent schedule.
This team is taking the long road trip to start the season as a huge learning experience.
"After being on the road a little bit, we learned a ton about ourselves and just how to handle road trips, and that's a great opportunity for guys to get to know one another even better," Mitch Canham, Beavers baseball head coach, told KOIN 6. "Really, but to be home, there's a ton of excitement in the clubhouse, getting to play in front of our fans, and getting to sleep in our own beds and just having that home field advantage that comes with playing at Goss."
Jesuit alum Nelson Keljo is getting the start of the mound on Friday, March 7 for a 5:30 p.m. pitch.
The home opener will air on KOIN 6, but the majority of OSU baseball home games will air on Portland's CW.
