Mets Cut 13 Players From MLB Camp, Place Reid-Foley on Waivers
The Mets made their first cuts of spring training on Tuesday, sending 13 of their players to minor league camp. The list includes Jett Williams, Blade Tidwell, Ryan Clifford, Drew Gilbert and Brandon Sproat among others.
In addition to re-assigning players, the Mets also placed Sean Reid-Foley on waivers. If he clears waivers, the Mets can assign him to minor-league camp.

Nobody on the list came as a surprise, but some players were able to make their mark during their shortened stay. Clifford homered against the Astros, Tidwell pitched an immaculate inning against the Rays and Sproat was perfect in a two-inning start against the Nationals.
In addition to those Mets fans may soon see at Citi Field during the 2025 season, some of the cuts were to players that New York is hoping to get some more development out of this year.
It is going to be a crucial season in particular for Kevin Parada, Alex Ramirez and Dom Hamel, who were among the players cut today. All three struggled in their 2024 minor league campaigns, Ramirez so much so that he was non-tendered before being brought back on a minor league deal.
As for Reid-Foley, he was never likely to make the team out of camp given previous shoulder issues. If he clears waivers, he’ll likely start the season in Triple-A Syracuse.
Now 56 players remain in big league camp, though it could bump up to 57 if Reid-Foley clears waivers and stay in camp. The team’s 40-man roster is also now at 39 minus Reid-Foley.
