Pipeline Releases 2025 Mets Prospect List

0 4

MLB Pipeline released their top 100 prospects in January. On Monday, they released their top 30 prospects for the Mets. RHP Brandon Sproat is the Mets’ top prospect; utility player Jett Williams is No. 2 and outfielder Carson Benge sits at No. 3.

MLB Pipeline noted the strength of depth the Mets have in their farm system, with many players like Sproat and Wiliams who could make big league debuts in 2025, to guys like Benge, Nolan McLean, and Jonah Tong who could find themselves working through the system swiftly if they stay healthy this year. Many times, “win-now” organizations like the Mets will make trades for players like Juan Soto, who the Mets signed in the offseason, at the expense of the farm system. However, the Mets stayed smart and have one of the deepest farm systems, according to MLB.com. They describe it as a farm system that could keep the team competitive in the NL East in the short and long term.

Brandon Sproat, RHP (MLB No. 46, Mets. No 1)

Sproat quickly made his way through the Mets organization. The Mets drafted him in the 2nd round (No. 56 pick overall) of the 2023 MLB Draft, and by the end of the 2024 season, he found himself assigned to Triple-A Syracuse.

Sproat has appeared in one game this spring. In that appearance, he faced the minimum, sitting down all six batters he faced over two innings, and recorded a strikeout on a 99mph sinker.

Jett Williams, SS/OF (MLB No. 57, Mets No. 2)

Williams also moved relatively rapidly through the Mets’ organization, ending the 2024 season with Triple-A Syracuse. Like Sproat, Williams also received an invite to major league spring training, his third camp invite in the last three years. After a lost year in 2024 due to a wrist injury, Williams looks to bounce-back in 2025.

Carson Benge, OF (MLB No. 100, Mets No. 3)

Rounding out the NL East top 30 for the Mets, and their No. 3 prospect is outfielder Carson Benge. Drafted just last year, The young prospect quickly moved from the Florida Coast League to the Florida State League in his short 2024 season. Over the course of 15 games with St. Lucie, he hit .273/.420/.436, with a .856 OPS.
