Mariners 2025 Spring Training Game #10 (3/1): Open Game Thread
The Mariners host the White Sox for the first time this spring
After eking out a win last night against the Padres, the Mariners host the White Sox today at Peoria Stadium. Emerson Hancock is slated to make his second start of the spring; last time out he went an inning and two-thirds, giving up one run on three hits while striking out two and issuing no walks. More excitingly, he debuted a new sweeper and a cutter (is everyone adding a cutter this spring? Apparently Skenes debuted one today too), which Jake wrote about last week, in case you missed it.
Also slated to pitch for the Mariners: Logan Evans, Andrés Muñoz, Will Klein, Drew Pomeranz, Jesse Hahn, and my boy Austin Kitchen. We’ll see if Andrés makes his spring debut today, and if he’ll bring his much-ballyhooed “kick change” with him. If you’re unfamiliar with the kick change, the hot new pitch for spring, John wrote a helpful explainer.
Here’s how the offense will start today; Ben Williamson gets the start at third, which is fun. Luke Raley is back after spending time away from the team for the birth of his first child. A Raley-Moore-Crawford-Williamson infield might be my favorite combination so far this spring; we’ll see how it goes.
