Andrea Girasole is the new Swiss Baseball Softball Federation President

The 43rd General Assembly of the Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF) elected Andrea Girasole as its new President. The 37-year-old succeeds Dagmar Voith Leemann (pictured below on the left with Girasole), who will remain on the Executive Board as Ethics Officer.

Girasole was born in Italy, where he developed as a player, to an Italian father and a Swiss mother, and he is a dual citizen of Italy and Switzerland. He currently lives in Zurich.

"It is a great honour to take on the role of President of the Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation," he said. "My main focus will be building more infrastructure for baseball and softball in Switzerland, creating better opportunities for our players and clubs to grow."

He added: "We are committed to strengthening our collaboration with the European and international federations to increase the number of games played at all levels. We aim to ensure greater visibility for our sport in Switzerland and on the global stage by fostering these partnerships. Through this effort, we will provide our athletes with more competitive opportunities, inspire new generations, and solidify the presence of baseball and softball in Switzerland. I look forward to working closely with the WBSC and the international community to achieve these goals."

The General Assembly confirmed Monique Schmitt as Treasurer and Executive Director, Mark Cole (Game Operations), Barbara Meierhans (Education) and Sebastian Zwyer (Marketing and Communication). The newly elected Board Members are Andreas Knecht (Connection to French-speaking Switzerland), Benjamin Molner (Grassroots) and Roger Savoldelli (Elite Competition).

During the General Assembly, SBSF announced two new members: the Ticino Baseball Rangers from the Lugano region and the Nexus Mavericks from Cheyres. The SBSF now has 24 member clubs.
