How to watch, who to watch, and all the other information you need for the first spring training game of 2025

We made it, everybody. After one of the worst off-seasons I can remember in terms of excitement and general feeling around the fanbase, baseball is back. Somehow the complaints about payroll and agita about inactivity fade under the light of the Arizona sun in the face of real actual baseball—stash your arguments about spring training being glorified practice for another day. The days are getting longer and lighter, baseball things are happening; today is a celebration. And we could all do with some of that right now.

Lineups:

You’ll see some of your favorites right out of the gate here, at least for a while, with the first four-ish hitters looking like what we’ll expect in-season. We’ll also get a chance to see some MLB-adjacent players across the infield in Tyler Locklear, Ryan Bliss, and new-old friend Austin Shenton. Jhonathan Díaz will take the ball to open the spring.

Other pitchers scheduled to pitch for Seattle: Blas Castano, Cody Bolton, Will Klein, Drew Pomeranz (LHP), Jesse Hahn, Austin Kitchen (LHP).

The Mariners minor-leaguers haven’t officially reported to camp yet, so there’s no list of minor-league callups yet. The replacements will come from the Mariners NRI (non-roster invite) group; here’s a list of those players with short writeups, if you need that for reference.

And here’s how the Padres will be lining up:

Other pitchers you might see for the Padres after starter Ryan Bergert departs: Logan Gillaspie, Austin Davis (LHP), Bradgley Rodriguez, Omar Cruz (LHP), Eduarniel Núñez, Jose Espada, Ryan Och (LHP), Francis Peña. I recognize maybe...one of those names.

Today’s game time:

12:10 PT (1:10 MT, for those of you in Arizona)

Broadcast information:

Visual: Mariners webcast (Mariners.com)

Radio: 710 AM Seattle Sports

You can also follow along pitch-by-pitch on the MLB app, if you have an especially Uncool boss.

Fun Mariners fact of the day: It’s Harry Ford’s birthday! He turns 22 years old, which is wild because it feels like he’s been in the system forever. Happy birthday, Harry!
