Guardians News and Notes: Tomorrow is the First Game (Sorta)
News and Notes for Friday, February 21st, 2025
Tomorrow the Guardians will play the Reds in Goodyear at 3:05 PM EST.
I have been made aware that we will be providing you spring training game threads and recaps this year so get your hot take muscles all stretched out.
The Guardians did a very entertaining photoshoot yesterday using Star Wars and Harry Potter props:
Zack Meisel offered the Athletic's version of players to watch in Spring Training, excellent as usual.
In case you missed it, FanGraphs published ZiPS top 100 prospects and six Cleveland players were on it:
24. Travis Bazzana
42. Welbyn Fransisca
59. Chase DeLauter
68. Juan Brito
69. Angel Genao
99. Johnathan Rodriguez
Erik Longenhagen of FanGraphs included two Guardians in his "Picks to Click" article where he looks at players who could crack the top 100 next offseason, Matt "Tugboat" Wilkinson, whom he says could become a convention-breaking mid-rotation starter and Austin Peterson whom he implies could become a midrotation arm if the Guardians can get some more velocity from his large frame. He also mentioned Andrew Walters as an impact reliever.
Lastly, one of our longtime site members was in the news recently. When we last heard from David Hollister a.k.a. Stuart Dean, he was throwing out first pitch on Lou Gehrig day in 2023. Since then he found out he can sing and has recorded 28 songs with more on the way and came out with a documentary called “Why Not” about that experience that is showing at the Short Sweet Film Fest at the Shaker Square movie theater with other documentaries on Sunday, March 2. He was on WKYC channel 3 earlier this week getting out the word about a free technology that can help very many people and in hopes that Apple will start publicizing it. See more here.
