Good day everyone! We had a flurry of one-year deals around baseball, and a couple of quirky signings from Seattle. Let’s get to all of that and more.
In Mariners news...
- The Mariners have signed right-hander Luis Castillo to a minor league contract (no, the other Luis Castillo).
- According to his minor league page, Julio E. Rodriguez has also agreed to a minor league deal with Seattle. This has to be a bit, right?
- Tyler Jay, who the Mariners claimed off waivers earlier this offseason, has cleared waivers with Seattle and elected free agency.
Around the league...
- The Dodgers made yet another free agent signing, inking right-hander Kirby Yates to a one-year pact.
- Infielder Adam Frazier is returning to the Pirates on a one-year deal.
- The Padres have agreed to a one-year contract with backstop Elias Díaz.
- The Reds have reached a one-year deal with outfielder Austin Hays.
- MLB The Show went with not one, not two, but THREE cover athletes for their upcoming game. Those three are: Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson.
