Italy to host WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 in Bollate and Caronno Pertusella; Dates also confirmed
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced that the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) will host the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 from June 27 to July 5 in Bollate and Caronno Pertusella, in the Lombardia Region.
Bollate is a city with 36,000 inhabitants in Milan's Metropolitan area, about 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) north of the city centre. It is the home of Bollate 1969, the defending Italian Softball League champions and Italy's most decorated women's softball club, with 14 league titles and a widely recognized player development programme. Bollate 1969 manages a four-field softball facility (pictured above), including two international-standard fields.
Caronno Pertusella is a town in the Varese province, nine kilometres (5.6 miles) northwest of Bollate. Its population is about 18,000. The local team, Rhevendors Caronno, placed fifth in the Italian Softball League 2024 regular season. Caronno play their home games at Giuseppe Nespoli Stadium.
Japan hosted the inaugural WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup in 2023, which was won by USA, who beat Puerto Rico in the final.
World No. 7 Italy and No. 8 Czechia became the first teams to qualify for the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025 by finishing first and second respectively at the European Championship 2024. No. 13 Spain, the third-place finisher, received a Wild Card and will be the third European team to compete in Bollate and Caronno Pertusella.
Oceania has two spots, which WBSC Oceania awarded to No. 10 Australia and No. 64 American Samoa.
The WBSC Americas Qualifier will take place in Acapulco, Mexico from March 20 to 29 to qualify four teams.
Two more teams will qualify through the WBSC Asia qualifier, taking place from March 26 to 30 in Puli (TPE).
One team from Africa will be the 12th participant in the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2025.
