According to The Athletic’s Will Sammon, if the Mets take Pete Alonso up on Scott Boras’ proposal for a three-year deal with opt-outs, the deal would look like three years, $93.3 million, with deferrals lowering the deal’s present-day value.

Sammon also reported the Yankees and Cubs have checked in on pitcher Brooks Raley. Over the past two seasons with the Mets, Raley has thrown 61 2/3 innings while logging a 2.48 ERA.

According to The Athletic’s Dennis Lin, former Seattle Mariners manager Scott Servais has found a new home, landing in San Diego as the Padres hired him as a special assistant for baseball operations and player development. Over nine seasons serving as Seattle’s skipper (2016-2024), Servais compiled a 680-642 record.
Lin also reported former first baseman Matt Adams is expected to be a part of the El Paso Chihuahuas coaching staff next season, San Diego’s Triple-A affiliate. Adams, 36, spent 10 seasons in MLB, slashing .258/.306/.463/.709.
