Jeff Passan of ESPN reported Monday that the Mets are still discussing adding an outfielder, relievers, and another starter. Passan also notes that Pete Alonso is likely to get a short-term deal with an opt-out clause, and a reunion with the Mets still seems like the most likely scenario.

“The Winter of Soto is still cooking,” Passan writes.

The Reds have acquired infielder Gavin Lux from the Dodgers in exchange for outfield prospect Michael Sirota and a Competitive Balance Round A pick. Lux made great strides in the second half of the season, batting .304/.391/.508 with seven homers and 16 doubles in 210 plate appearances. Sirota was drafted in the third round this past year after posting a .986 OPS in his junior year at Northeastern University.

Oakland A’s outfielder Brent Rooker signed a five-year, $60 million extension, according to Passan. Rooker gets a sixth year vesting option at $22 million.

Chris Cotillo of MassLive reports that many teams are interested in All-Star lefty Tanner Scott. The Red Sox are among the teams that have explored signing a high-end reliever. The fireballing southpaw is reportedly expected to earn around $20 million per season.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees aren’t currently seen as a fit for three-time batting champion Luis Arraez. Jeff Passan mentioned earlier Monday that the Yankees and Padres had discussed a trade of Arraez this offseason.

Sheel Seidler, widow of late Padres owner Peter Seidler, is suing her husband’s brothers over control of the team. In the 91-page lawsuit, she accuses the brothers of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and racism. Seidler’s kids are allegedly being pushed out of the ownership group as well.

The Royals have agreed to re-sign righty Michael Lorenzen to a one-year deal worth $7 million. Lorenzen was strong down the stretch for Kansas City, posting a 1.57 ERA over 28 2/3 innings after being acquired from the Rangers.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Mariners and Orioles have recently discussed a trade surrounding right-hander Luis Castillo. The Orioles have added Tomoyuki Sugano and Charlie Morton to their rotation, but have also lost Corbin Burnes to the Diamondbacks.

The Rangers are reuniting with veteran righty Chris Martin on a one-year deal. A native of Arlington, Martin is coming off a spectacular two-year run with the Red Sox, posting a 2.16 ERA with 96 strikeouts against just 11 walks over 95 2/3 innings. The 38-year-old pitched for Texas in 2018 and 2019, getting dealt to the Braves for Kolby Allard at the 2019 trade deadline.
