Morning Briefing: Luisangel Acuña Recognized for Winter Ball Excellence
Good morning, Mets fans!
Infielder Luisangel Acuña has been recognized for his strong performance in the Venezuelan Winter League, as he was named a finalist for the Rookie of the Year Award on Thursday. The 22-year-old is slashing .337/.419/.495 with three home runs, 17 RBIs and 18 stolen bases through 31 games.
In his first taste of major league action last season, Acuña flashed his potential by hitting .308/.325/.641 to go with three homers and six RBIs over 14 contests. He figures to remain squarely in the mix for playing time at second base in 2025 alongside Jeff McNeil as well.
