MMO Roundtable: Our 2025 Mets New Year’s Resolutions

0 2

We’ve already taken a look back at the 2024 season. Now it’s time to look ahead to 2025.

With the New Year upon us, we’re all making our own New Year’s resolutions. We here at MMO have made ours too, but specifically for the Mets. Here’s what we want to see happen this year.

Patrick Glynn

Keep having fun. The Mets are becoming one of the more fun teams to experience. They leaned into themselves last year. Keep doing that.

David Melendi

Go for it! Re-sign Pete, another hitter and a relief pitcher too. Howie Rose said the 2024 team made him feel like a kid again. Resolve to never make Howie feel his age again.

Johnluke Chaparro

Win it all. There are pieces in place that already signal that this year can be a special one. They need to add a bit more to help bolster the roster. Make a statement and Win the whole damn thing this year!

Allison Waxman

Keep the underdog mentality. They played best when people underestimated them. Sure they have Soto now, but people will always second guess the Mets, they know that. With a chip on their shoulder, they have nothing to lose and the wins taste that much sweeter.

Andrew Steele-Davis

Believe. Last March, I was incredibly down on this team. I didn’t think they were a playoff team. So, suffice to say, I felt vindicated at the end of May. Even as this team was putting together the best record in baseball from June onwards, I still had my doubts. I never truly believed until it was too late. Maybe that’s the PTSD from the Wilpon era still lingering. Whatever it is, I’m done with it. I’m all in on this team and I’m ready to believe in 2025. Steve Cohen is building an organization to be proud of on and off the field. It is cool and fun to root for the Mets again. Then, thanks to the duo of David Stearns and Carlos Mendoza, we have a legit World Series contender to watch in 2025, spearheaded by the star-studded pairing of Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor. Next year is going to be fun. So, yeah, my Mets New Year’s resolution is to do my best Ted Lasso impression and just believe.

Christian De Block

Dream big. The 2024 Mets gave this fanbase so much happiness and excitement. The building blocks are in place with Carlos Mendoza, David Stearns and Steve Cohen. The team was two wins away from a World Series appearance. The Mets are on the up, but if they want to get over the top, it’s time to dream big.

Michelle Ioannou

Can I say all of the above? The 2024 Mets were so fun to watch (well, for the later portion of the season). I want that to happen again in 2025. It’ll be 10 years since the Mets last made it to the World Series. Let’s channel that energy and not just make it to the World Series, but win it. Oh, and re-sign Pete!
