Dedniel Núñez’s Injury Recovery Headed In Right Direction
Dedniel Núñez, whose season ended in August due to injury, is making good progress with his recovery from a strained right flexor tendon and platelet-rich plasma injection, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported on Friday.
DiComo noted that Núñez was seemingly at risk of surgery at a certain stage, though recent developments have helped him sidestep that outcome.
The 28-year-old rookie right-hander will workout with the Tigers del Licey, a team in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, DiComo reported. He may also make a winter ball appearance.
Núñez was a pleasant surprise last season, going 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA , 0.91 WHIP and one save in 25 appearances. He struck out 48 and walked eight in 35 innings.
Núñez was also placed on the injured list with a right pronator sprain on July 26, which held him out through Aug. 23.
