WBSC Premier12 2024 Presented by RAXUS Group A - Day 6: Venezuela, USA advance to Super Round in Tokyo
Venezuela and USA became the first teams to qualify for the Super Round of the WBSC Premier12 2024, presented by RAXUS after defeating the Netherlands and Mexico respectively on the last day of Group A play in Mexico on Thursday.
With the top two teams in Group A advancing to the Super Round in Tokyo, Japan, world No. 4 Venezuela beat No. 7 the Netherlands 11-0 in seven innings at the Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara to clinch first place in Group A with a four-win, one loss record.
In the two evening games, world No. 10 Panama came from behind to beat No. 8 Puerto Rico 4-3 at the Coloso del Pacífico in Tepic while No. 5 USA beat No. 2 Mexico 12-2 in Guadalajara. USA's win secured them second place in the group ahead of Panama - despite both finishing with a three-win, two loss record - having beaten Panama in group play.
Tie Breaking System
In case of a tie after the Opening Round or Super Round ranking of teams shall be based on win-loss records of all the games played.
All ties shall be settled in the order of the following list:
1. The team that won the game(s) between the teams tied shall be given the higher position.
2. Team's Quality Balance (TQB) and game results between teams tied.
3. The team that has the best Earned Runs Team's Quality Balance (ER-TQB).
4. Highest batting average in games between the teams tied.
