WBSC Premier12 2024 Presented by RAXUS Group A - Day 5: Venezuela take on Puerto Rico; Mexico vs Netherlands
Welcome to Day 5 of the WBSC Premier12 2024, presented by RAXUS. While Group B has a spectacular Opening Day in Japan and Taiwan, the battle for the top two spots in Group A is reaching its climax. All six teams in Mexico are within one game of each other in the standings and still in the hunt for a spot in Tokyo's Super Round next week with five games remaining.
Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara will host two games today in Guadalajara. At 1pm, Puerto Rico take on Venezuela in a classic matchup between the two Caribbean rivals. Later today, Netherlands and Mexico will play the night game in a key matchup for both squads. First pitch scheduled at 8pm.
Venezuela and Puerto Rico will open the day in Guadalajara. The South American team is 2-1 in the standings, and a win will secure for them at least a tie in second place in the standings, with the chance to clinch their ticket with a win tomorrow. For Puerto Rico, this is a must-win game if they want to remain in contention.

The night game will be a key contest between Netherlands and Mexico. The European team seek to carry on their offensive surge last night, when they scored a record-setting 20 runs. Same as Venezuela, a win for the Netherlands would put them 3-1 and in great position for tomorrow definition. For Mexico this is their last chance as a loss today could potentially mean the elimination from the Super Round.
