Syracuse Mets 2024 Season Review
The Syracuse Mets season was a solid and an improvement on the recent past. They were one of the hottest teams in the International League during the first half as they put up a fantastic record of 46-28 with a run differential at a crazy +85. Everything clicked, and the team was near unbeatable, but it was tough to maintain (especially in minor league baseball) those numbers as the second half showed, going 32-43, and -52 run differential after the break.
One of the main reasons the team struggled in the second half was losing a majority of their talent to the big league Mets. Mark Vientos, Jose Iglesias, Jose Butto, Luisangel Acuña, and Christian Scott are the most notable names that were dominating Triple-A that were eventually called up and played major parts in the big league Mets run to the NLCS.
The Syracuse Mets had some injury issues as they missed top prospects Drew Gilbert and Jett Williams for a majority of the year, but you can expect those two if they do not make the major league roster out of spring camp to play big parts of the Mets season next year. You could also add Ryan Clifford to that list another one of the Mets top prospects who could start next year in upstate New York.
Brandon Sproat, Mike Vasil, Dom Hamel, and Blade Tidwell—the Mets’ top pitching prospects—pitched poorly in the International League, but you have to take this league’s pitching and hitting stats with a grain of salt. All four seem to still have solid potential, even if some of them may likely end up as relievers.

Standouts
Luke Ritter undoubtedly was the best hitter for the Syracuse Mets, as he was tied for third with the most home runs in the international league. There is a world next season where he could be a really solid depth bat for the big-league Mets to use if injuries happen.
For pitching, this was a tough one, but I’m going to go with Mike Vasil. I get the ERA is rough, but he showed an ability to give the organization innings. It’s not far-fetched to think that maybe Vasil with a good spring could crack a longman role for the Mets.
