WBSC Premier12 2024 dazzles with spectacular Opening Ceremony in Mexico

A spectacular drone light show wowed the crowd and made for a spectacular opening ceremony for the WBSC Premier12 presented by RAXUS at the Estadio Panamericano in Guadalajara ahead of Mexico's game against Venezuela on Saturday.

The opening ceremony marked a significant milestone in the WBSC's and local organising committee's commitment to fostering global baseball, showcasing the spirit of competition but also emphasized the WBSC's dedication to world class international baseball ahead of the start of the WBSC's flagship tournament.

A highlight of the ceremony was the innovative drone light show, which captivated attendees with its breathtaking visuals and cutting-edge technology. This modern spectacle not only entertained but also underscored the WBSCs mission to modernize its competitions and engage a broader audience through creative and immersive experiences.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari addressed the crowd, reinforcing the importance of collaboration within the sports community and the shared vision of promoting baseball and softball worldwide. His presence, alongside that of special guests and local baseball royalty, added an air of excitement and prestige to the occasion, affirming the event's status as a hallmark in the sports calendar.

"The first two editions of the Premier12 were a resounding success and we are thrilled to once again be able to showcase the world's best baseball talent on the international stage," President Fraccari said. "Such is the success of the WBSC Premier12, I’m very pleased to say that the number of teams will increase in 2027 to 16 teams, providing more opportunities for teams and fans to be involved in the WBSC's flagship tournament.

Randy Arozarena, MLB player and World Baseball Classic hero for México, was in attendance and threw the first pitch along with new CONADE Director Rommel Pacheco.
