Kia Tigers and Samsung Lions to compete in Korean Series 2024

The Samsung Lions won the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league playoffs and will face the regular season winners Kia Tigers in the 2024 Korean Series.

The best-of-seven final series will open on Monday, October 21 at the Gwangju-Kia Champions Field. Game two is scheduled in Gwangju the day after.

Daegu Samsung Lions Park will host Game Three, Four and eventual Game Five on October 24, 25 and 27.

The Korean Series will eventually go back to Gwangju for Game Six and Seven on October 28 and 29.

The Kia Tigers have dominated the 144-game regular season with 87 wins.

The Samsung Lions finished second with 78 wins and defeated the defending champions LG Twins, the regular season third-place team, 3-1 in the best-of-five playoff series.

The KBO post season started with a Wild Card series between the fourth-place Doosan Bears and the fifth-place KT Wiz. Despite starting with a 1-0 advantage, the Bears lost both games (4-0, 1-0).

The Wiz faced the LG Twins in the Semi-Playoff series. The Twins won the best-of-five series, 3-1 and advanced to the Playoff Final series against the Lions.

Veteran slugger Min-Ho Kang, who helped Korea win gold at the Beijing 2008 Olympics and win the inaugural WBSC Premier12 as their starting catcher, led the Lions to their first Korean Series in nine years with a solo home run.
