Elephant Rumblings: A compilation of A’s Coliseum “lasts”

MLB news roundup

Greetings, Athletics Nation.

Today is the first Friday on which we have no more games at the Coli to look forward to. It doesn’t feel real to me yet, but the last Oakland Athletics game at the Oakland Coliseum was played yesterday. The last two games saw a dearth of timely hits, but the A’s held on yesterday to take their final game and series in Oakland. Remarkably, nary a home run was hit by an Athletic through the last eight games at the Coliseum.

While my feelings about this moment in history are generally overwhelmingly negative, I’d prefer to focus on some positives for the moment and savor some fond memories of the A’s through the years. To that end, I’ve compiled a list of “lasts” at the Coliseum. Note that my list only recognizes lasts by A’s players, not opponents. Date of achievement is September 26, 2024 if not otherwise specified. Feel free to add on in the comments!

A’s baseball at the Coliseum has indeed come to an end after 57 years. But the Oakland Athletics have three games yet to play in Seattle against the Mariners this weekend. It would be nice to pay the M’s back for being instrumental in ruining the A’s playoff hopes in 2021, but Seattle was eliminated yesterday. So we’ll have to settle for some good old fashioned wins. Hopefully.

Let’s go, Oakland! See you in the game threads, AN.
