Minor League Recap: Clippers season over after falling to Storm Chasers in Game 3

0 0

Clippers season comes to an end

Clippers 3, Storm Chasers 7

The Clippers season has unfortunately come to an end, as they lose game 3 of the International League Championship to the Omaha Storm Chasers. Tyler Freeman went 2-4 with a walk, Juan Brito went 0-2 with three walks, Johnathan Rodriguez and Gabriel Arias both went 1-5 with a strikeout. Micah Pries went 1-4 with a solo HR and Myles Straw went 2-5 with a double.

Ryan Webb was slated to start this game but wound up being scratched. Let’s hope that is not injury related, maybe he’s getting called up to Cleveland! With the decision to scratch Webb, the Clipper decided to do sort of a bullpen game. Andrew Misiaszek and Bradley Hanner opened with a scoreless first inning. Then Triston McKenzie came in and allowed three earned runs in three innings on four strikeouts and two walks. It’s been a nightmare season for Triston, he’s probably very excited to go into the off-season. Will Dion and Peter Strzelecki both struggled, giving up a combined four runs in 1.2 inning pitched. On the bright side, Nic Enright threw 2.1 hitless innings with three strikeouts. He will be in Cleveland’s bullpen next season.

The Clippers finished the season in first place with a record of 48-26. The top performers this season included Kyle Manzardo with a 143 WRC+, Johnathan Rodriguez with a 140 WRC+, and Jose Tena with a 119 WRC+. Top pitchers included Ryan Webb with a 2.60 ERA, Doug Nikhazy with a 2.87 ERA, and Andrew Walters with a 2.97 ERA.
