Hold on, Royals.

Jaylon Thompson writes how the Royals used their travel day as a mental reset.

On the team flight, every player came with the same goal … and similar outfits. There was a planned theme where everyone wore camo clothing on the plane.

The mental reset, the road-trip vibes: It all comes with one objective in mind.

Make the playoffs.

“You know, a break away from the field gives us some perspective,” Royals infielder Paul DeJong said. “Then, doing our little team camo dress-up got some camaraderie out of that. We know what we have in front of us. Now, it’s just back to the daily work.”

Anne Rogers gives an injury update on Michael Lorenzen.

The righty is scheduled to start on Sept. 25 against the Nationals in D.C., slotting into the rotation while pushing Alec Marsh to the bullpen. Lorenzen will likely be on a pitch limit, as he only went 3 1/3 innings during his rehab appearance with Triple-A Omaha on Sept. 13 before throwing two simulated innings on Sept. 21. But Lorenzen is ready for whatever the Royals need.

“No excuses, just give everything you can,” Lorenzen said. “I’ll let [manager Matt Quatraro] make the decisions on how long he keeps me out there. Obviously, I’m going to try and do the best I can and give him as many innings as I possibly can.”
