Game 159: Reds at Guardians (6:40 PM ET) - Junis vs. Walters
Walters? Walters!
The Cincinnati Reds are still contractually obligated to play a few more baseball games despite the fact they’ve been eliminated from postseason contention, clinched yet another losing season, and fired their manager.
Sports!
Jakob Junis will toe the rubber for the Reds tonight as they once again take on the Cleveland Guardians. Maybe Elly De La Cruz will sock a homer. Maybe he’ll sock four.
Maybe, just maybe, he’ll swipe 5 more bags and lock up a 25/70 season.
Cleveland just clinched a postseason berth, and that’s probably got a little to do with why they’re starting little-used reliever Andrew Walters tonight. He’s thrown just 6.0 IP at the big league level this year, though the former college closer for Miami does have a pretty interesting arsenal on the bump.
First pitch is set for 6:40 PM ET. I assume at least a couple of you are still watching this mess.
