Surging Cincinnati Reds go for series sweep against Minnesota Twins

0 2

Can they make that miracle 14-game win streak to finish the season a reality?

TJ Friedl socked another homer as part of a 4-hit day, and Nick Martinez spun yet another gem to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a rout of a victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. The win, their second in a row against Minnesota, secured them a series victory, and on Sunday at 1:05 PM ET they’ll go for the series sweep.

Rhett Lowder will toe the rubber to begin things opposite Twins starter David Festa, whom the Reds should absolutely maul. I’m serious folks, this has another 11-1 thumping written all over it (or, at least it did before I wrote that).

The Reds, who were moribund for most of this season, still have a shot at an elusive 14-game win streak to finish their season and an 85-77 overall regular season record that would still likely send them home before the superexpanded megaplayoffs ever begin. That’d still be kind of cool in a dark, dark way, right?
