Punchless, toothless, pointless: A’s 2, Sox 0

With Jerry’s penchant for pinching pennies, perhaps we forego the final 14

Garrett Crochet managed to navigate four innings of one-run ball before departing, almost like a real, big-league pitcher who’s earned the right to demand things like extensions and postseason usage at the trade deadline. But even that one run is not enough to escape with a win, when your hitters cannot dent the scoreboard at all.

Six hits, all singles. Nine strikeouts, one walk. But please, keep telling us the pieces are in place and the offense needs no help this offseason. Clearly, you got this well in hand, Getzie.

Maybe Jerry is going to be heavy on the over when next season’s loss line for the White Sox is 120. That’s just about the only thing about this abominable season that would make sense.
