After wrapping things up for the final time in the Oakland Coliseum, the Mariners have flown out to the banks of the Mississippi to take on the Cardinals for a 3 game set. With the division once again in striking distance (fool me 12752 times), these September games count.

The redbirds are putting Erick Fedde on the mound, a pitcher who has taken a circuitous route through the league, featuring a stint in the KBO. The Mariners are familiar with his stuff, having faced him twice this year when he was with the White Sox. Over those two previous starts he’s allowed 4 earned runs.
The M’s, in contrast, are sending out Bryce Miller in what will be the Texan’s first career start against St. Louis. The right hander is 3-0 against NL Central across his short career, and he’ll be looking to keep that trend continuing tonight.
