Could really use a win here.

The Kansas City Royals will attempt to snap an L7 tonight and avoid a sweep as they take on the Cleveland Guardians in the final game of this three-game set at Kauffman Stadium.

Seth Lugo will start for Kansas City. It seemed like Lugo might have been running out of gas having blown past his career high in innings pitched, but he tossed a gem in his last outing at Houston. While it didn’t result in a win, it did indicate he isn’t totally cooked yet. Lugo was outstanding in his last start against Cleveland, striking out ten across six shutout innings on June 30.

The Guardians will counter with Ben Lively. Lively has spent the entire season in Cleveland’s rotation, posting a solid 3.92 ERA but less solid 4.81 FIP. He doesn’t miss many bats, but he has a deep arsenal and throws plenty of strikes. Lively last faced the Royals on June 27, surrendering two runs across six innings.

First pitch: 6:40 pm CDT
