Looking to make it two straight over their Seattle rival

After walking off the Seattle Mariners in last night’s series first game, the two clubs butt heads again tonight in the second game of the series. Going to be hard to top last night’s ending.

Oakland will be going with rookie right-hander JT Ginn in what’ll be just his second career start. Ginn was solid in that first start, holding down the Reds early before running out of gas in the sixth. He’ll be hoping to build off that successful outing when he faces the Mariners for the first of likely many times over the coming years. It would be encouraging if he could get started on the right foot with his opponent, who is quickly falling out of the postseason race and is getting desperate for a win after losing three straight games.

Here’s how the home team will line up in game two tonight:

Only one change compared to yesterday’s order. Star shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson gets back into the starting lineup after taking last night’s win off. He’ll be taking over for Tyler Nevin while Max Shuemann switches to third and Tristan Gray heads across the diamond to take over at first base.

Seattle will turn to staff ace Luis Castillo to help them right the ship. It’s been a fairly typical season for Castillo here in 2024 as he has a 3.65 ERA, which isn’t far off from his career 3.56 mark. He’s coming off a quality outing last time out against the Rays, pitching into the sixth inning while allowing just two runs. Oakland will need to do better than that against Castillo if they want to win game two tonight.

How the Mariners will line up tonight against Ginn:

And if you’re going to the game tonight, it’s Bark in the Park, so expect to see some hairy friends. Let’s go A’s! Make it two in a row!
