At least Boston keeps losing...

The bad week of baseball continued on Tuesday night as the Royals were thumped by Cleveland 7-1. It extends the losing streak to seven games with 22 to go.

The offense remained quiet for the better part of five innings against Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee. On the other hand, Brady Singer wasn’t too bad himself. Despite a bases-loaded jam in the second inning that led to Cleveland’s first run, Singer was pretty good. In total, he tossed 5 23 innings and allowed just two runs.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Royals had an opportunity to erase all the pain of the last six games. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Salvador Perez came to the plate. However, Kansas City mustered just one run on a sacrifice fly from Paul DeJong.

In the ensuing inning, the baseball gods punished the Royals as Brayan Rocchio smacked a two-run shot to make it 4-1.

The Guardians managed to pull away in the eighth thanks to soft contact off Lucas Erceg and James McArthur. They tacked on three more runs to push their lead to 7-1. That was more than enough to silence Kansas City for the final two frames.

The Royals, 75-65, still hold their playoff spot by 4.5 games. They’ll try and avoid another sweep and eighth-consecutive loss tomorrow night. Seth Lugo goes against Ben Lively. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. CT.
