0 1

The RubberDucks and Captains bring home wins for Cleveland affiliates.

Columbus Clippers (68-60) - AAA

COL 1 - GWN 2

Box Score

Conner Gillispie made the start for Columbus. Going 4.2 innings without giving up a run or a hit. He walked two batters and struck out six. Nic Enright made his much anticipated return, pitching the 7th inning for Columbus. Enright walked two batters and struck out one. He threw 13 strikes in 23 pitches.

Columbus offense was relatively silent. In the top of the 5th, Raynel Delgado walked but was picked off at first. With two outs, Dom Nuñez singled to right field and advanced to 3rd when Christian Cairo singled to right field as well. Angel Martínez singled to, you guessed it, right field scoring Nuñez.

Prior to last nights game, it was announced that Chase DeLauter would be moved to the 7-day IL with a hamstring strain.

Akron RubberDucks (74-50) - AA

BOW 0 - AKR 4

Box Score

Austin Peterson threw a solid 6.0 innings Friday against the BaySox. Peterson allowed 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5. He earned the win for Akron, bringing his record to 6-2 with the RubberDucks. The Akron bullpen locked things down. Ross Carver gave 2.0 innings of scoreless, hitless baseball while striking out 4 batters. Alaska Abney pitched the final frame and also went hitless and scoreless. Abney struck out 2.

Kahlil Watson had himself a great night. In the bottom of the 2nd, Watson hit a 2 run home run. In the bottom of the 8th, he also hit a single line drive scoring C.J. Kayfus. Watson wasn’t the only RubberDuck to drive in a run. Yordys Valdes hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 3rd to extend the RubberDucks lead.

Lake County Captains (71-51) - High A

CR 4 - LC 7

Box Score

The Lake County bats were alive and popping Friday night. Angel Genao and Ralphy Velazquez both had multi hit nights. Velazquez and Alex Mooney both drove in 3 runs each. In the bottom of the 1st, Ralphy Velazquez singled to score Angel Genao. In the bottom of the 3rd, Velazquez singled again, scoring Angel Genao again and Jake Fox. This was followed by Alex Mooney hit another moonshot, 2 run homerun.

Alonzo Richardson had a fantastic night, earning his first win with the Captains. He threw 7.0 innings allowing only 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 5 batters.

Lynchburg Hillcats (64-58) - Low A

CAR 9 - LYN 5

Box Score

Kyle Scott earned his 4th loss of the season, allowing 7 runs, 4 of which were earned on 5 hits and 2 walks. Scott struck out 5 in his 5.0 innings of work. The top of the 5th inning was a disaster for the Hillcats defense. The inning started with two errors and a passed ball resulting in a runner on 2nd and 3rd. Scott gave up an RBI single and then walked a batter. A balk scored the 3rd run for the mudcats before the first out was finally recorded.

The Hillcats tried to recover in the bottom of the 8th. Luis Merejo singled to right field, scoring Christian Knapczyk. Manuel Mejias singled to short to score Welbyn Francisca, cutting the lead to 4 runs. Unfortunately that is where the scoring ended for the night. The Hillcats were unable to bring it back and fell to the Mudcats 9 to 5.
