Mariners Moose Tracks, 8/25/24: Victor Robles, Willson Contreras, and Greg Maddux

In Mariners news...

• According to manager Dan Wilson, Robles is currently day-to-day, although I would expect imaging results to come in before the start of today’s game that will confirm whether or not an IL stint will be required.

• My main takeaway from this clip, as someone who doesn’t watch hardly any minor league games, is that the challenge system is really really cool.

Around the league...

• And there’s goes José Caballero, annoying the hell out of a tough opponent again.

• Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras will be going to the IL with a fractured finger after getting hit by a pitch in yesterday’s game against the Twins.
• Right-hander, and former top prospect Casey Kelly is returning to MLB after a six-year hiatus.
• This is the kind of play that makes you say “yeesh” and then watch it 37 more times. Don’t ask me how I know that.

• Maddux must be so happy that he pitched before social media came around, and not to belittle his scheme, but I’m reasonably confident someone somewhere might have started watching clips and piecing the puzzle together if he’d been pitching during the peak of Twitter.
